Why I Create
In 2021 the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing with restrictions on group gatherings such as restaurants, schools, shopping centers, and travel. My adult child and grandchildren lived over 1,000 miles from my location. Our families were virtually unable to offer hands-on nurturing and loving support. Life, as we knew it, no longer existed. Our homes were our haven from the unknown virus.
To keep my brain active and engaged in learning a new and enjoyable skill, I decided to try my hand at Adobe Photoshop. Free instructional videos by experts called evangelists and guest creatives sounded intriguing.
The Adobe Photoshop videos were normally half an hour long and often provided a starter file to help with the creative process for the newbies. I certainly appreciated and accepted any help I was offered.
My skills also helped me connect with my adult children and grandchildren in a virtual communication format that is familiar to Gen Xers and Gen Zers. Photoshop composites are visual, colorful, and to-the-point messages that can be viewed quickly on a computer or mobile device.
The positive messages of inspiration and empowerment were graciously received by my family and continue to provide an ongoing dialogue and conveyance vehicle.
